We’ve Renamed to SpaceComputer. Here’s Why.

Short but important update: The Spacecoin.xyz project has changed its name to SpaceComputer in order to more clearly communicate its mission to a broader audience.

Why SpaceComputer?
SpaceComputer’s vision is to build the Orbital Root of Trust: a satellite-powered cryptographic infrastructure that introduces physically-isolated and sovereign compute for blockchain systems and decentralized protocols. In simplified terms, we are building a distributed computer in space. The new name perfectly reflects this reality and allows anyone to understand the basic premise in just an instant.

Why not Spacecoin?
While a ‘coin’ is indeed a key element of this distributed compute network, SpaceComputer as a name communicates the technological aspects as its main emphasis. Additionally, when we started the project in 2024, the name Spacecoin was somewhat of a placeholder, we were aware the name had been previously used by projects and would be used by multiple project in the future.

Ultimately, in our view, the name 'SpaceComputer' most accurately represents our north star: a space-based distributed compute network! 👽🛰️
